10th Street Basement

The homeowners wanted to convert an unfinished storage and utility basement into a warm, inviting extension of the home. In order to make room for several new living spaces, the existing basement slab was demolished and re-poured approximately one foot lower, as deep as possible without costly structural modifications. A small rear addition enclosed space below the kitchen and expanded the footprint of this level of the home.
In the newly reclaimed space, a widened stair leads down to the new family room. Complete with extensive built-in cabinets and an entertainment bar, this are will become the new focal point for informal entertaining and family time. An adjacent full bath allows use as an extra guest bedroom. At the rear, in the addition, a bright home office is partially segregated from the living area, offering a degree of privacy. A laundry closet and ample storage rooms line the hallway, completing the addition.
