Outdoor Voices

Studio Laan collaborated with Outdoor Voices’ in-house design team to complete their first retail outlet in the mid-Atlantic region.  Situated on Georgetown’s historic M St. retail corridor, the three-story, 3,000 sf build out brings a fresh new face to a nearly two century-old structure.

The first floor greets customers with bright colors and natural wood surfaces on floor and walls showcasing the brand’s active lifestyle apparel. To the rear of the space, colored glass archways frame views to the “locker room” – a playfully tiled niche housing additional merchandise displays and fitting rooms.

As one proceeds upstairs, more natural wood mixes with recycled rubber floor mats to lend a calm, refined, gym-inspired aura to the showroom.  Colored glass archways reappear here, flanking complementary arched-top mirrors at the rear.  Curtained dressing alcoves provide an efficient dual use of the limited space available.

A fresh coat of baby blue paint, minimalist graphics, and subdued signage just below the first floor cornice complete the front façade, extending the store’s presence into the public realm.
